LOVE 2


Giving yourself 

The love of God is selfless. It’s the greatest miracle ever known and that ever existed to man. The only true one at that. God gives himself wholly and totally to us and our needs. He knows whatsoever we desire even before we inquire. He is the father to all and he doesn’t fail to give His undivided attention.

Imisi has asked herself these questions ever since she made up her mind to give back to God. What can I do? How can I do it? 
Let’s see 1 John 4:9;
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.  
Taking a look at this, it is seen that we reciprocate the love of God by living through Him. That’s the only thing God wants and that is how we reciprocate the love of God. By living through Him, it means doing His word. As simple as it sounds, there’s complexity in this too as Imisi is confused. God does not want you to prove your love to Him by just belting out mere words in to the air without backing them up with actions.

1) And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.

You say you love God but you don’t love your neighbor; neighbor could mean anyone: you judge him/her, call them names or you’re selfish or to busy to introduce them to the love of God. Remember that God’s love is selfless. There’s the kind of love and realization that gushes out of you because you’re filled with the love of God, so you show to anyone you meet no matter what they’ve done to you or no matter their past.

2) When you love God, it pushes you to work for Him. That is, in any area you feel you’re good at and can use to bring other people to Christ, which is the main purpose of working in and for God. This is just a way of testifying to people about the love of Christ. You use your voice, your pen, your sociable skills, your funny nature of introducing people to the everlasting love of God, etc. By doing so, your light shines, you’re wanted and people will come to you because they know you can offer them something they don’t have and this is because you fully understand this scripture; John 3:16. 

Someone here like Imisi will think God is expecting something from you because you’re now in Christ, but that is not so.

Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that.
Love has always been the greatest commandment. When you love your neighbor, you won’t want them to perish.
